What is customized furniture

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

Let’s face the Facts today: Some individuals are fussy about their sofas and furniture. Perhaps they have bizarrely formed rooms that won't accommodate a standard-sized sofa. Maybe they have narrow entryways into their homes that make it difficult to fit standard settees within. Perhaps they use wild colors in their dcor and standard settee selections just won't match. Or perhaps they're exasperated designers themselves with radical concepts about the way to transform a settee into something new and thrilling.

Today the new fad in internal decor is customised settees. Yes that is right, customized furniture. There is just a couple of select stores across the US offering sofa customization, and some of the companies has built up a business around satisfying even the pickiest customer (e.g. Sofa U Love, based out of California).

Customized sofa buyers can customise a sofa by choosing a different fabric for that settee, different colours, and even different comfort levels. There isn't a need to stick with the showroom colours if those colors won't work for patrons.

The scale of a sofa could make or break a deal. If the piece is too large, it can crowd a room or not fit all together. If a piece is to little it can look strange or weird in the room. If settees must be slightly larger or marginally smaller so as to work in a specific room, customized designers can make those changes as well. Maybe you're a shorter person, and you’d like your couch to sit a little lower to the floor. Customised Sofa designers can do that. Maybe you're a tall person, and you need a longer couch to stretch out on. These are all options when you've got to pick your own custom piece of furniture.

Next time you are out buying a chunk of furniture, don’t agree on something. Go with customized furniture to fit your house perfectly.

Sofa U Love develops customization on all kinds of sofas. The company does everything possible to give buyers decisions, and to give them control. Sofa U Love offers over 1,000 fabric selections for customers. The sky is the limit when it comes to fabric and Sofa U Love.

How To Choose The Right Sofa For You

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

Changing your old sofa is the same as removing the old plastic covering that has been hanging on your living room lamp for say, 5 years. Have you thought of how hard it is for you to get out from your couch? That’s too bad. These only mean one thing- its time to change your sofa. It might have taken you some time before choosing the sofa from the furniture shop the last time you bought your couch.  Only to find out that everything were all in vain. Your sofa was not as nice as you first thought of it to be. To ease out the trouble of choosing your sofa, here are some guidelines to make the work lighter. An Auckland plumber who also delt in hot water cylinders and solar water installation provided the useful information.

The size. Before doing anything, decide on what size should you buy. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you use your room size as the basis. The primary reason for this is to avoid the chance that your sofa doesn’t fit the door. Or if you are leaving on the second floor or so, it may be due to the size of the stairs or the elevator. Again, it is not only the length of the sofa that matters, check also on its width and height and maximum size that your room will allow.

It is not always advisable to pick the color that looks strong. As far as home designing is concerned, neutral colors still remain to be the ideal choice. Then if you want to capture those hot and striking colors then take advantage of the home appliances. Throw pillows are much less expensive and they may be great additions to your home doors. Plus, you can always change the looks of your living room by rearranging your pillows or by changing their pillow case colors.

Assess your lifestyle. Consider your lifestyle and start from there when choosing the upholstery of your sofa. Also think about which part of the house will your sofa be placed. Will it be placed in the family room or in the formal living room? Having kids may also add to your reconsiderations. For the longevity of the furniture, avoid delicate upholstery like that of satin.

The pattern. If you prefer plain design then it is best to narrow down your choices to more toned down colors. However, choosing patterned upholstery is another thing.

Missing It Out On Outdoor Tables

Friday, June 17th, 2011

There we go…. I have been reading mails on more chairs, more sofas, and more mores like outdoor barstools and settes and, outdoor tables to go with such designs…so, I am going to look into each, one at a time….

On outdoor seating and sofas, I guess I missed on settes and they really are great outdoor things to have any day. The Luma Settee looks like the modern version of the ex- f-o-r-m. One from the award-winning fabricator, made with IBAMA (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) certified Ipe wood and anodized aluminium. I like the clean aesthetic lines and the finish that reflects the inherent natural beauty of Ipe. Ipe is claimed to be naturally resistant to rot, insects, UV exposure, ice, salt, abrasion, and splintering (and even 3 times harder than teak)! Designed for outdoors, the anodized aluminum ensures corrosion resistance, resistance to contamination and bacteria growth. I like it without any cushions, but there are cushions available too….

This outdoor coffee table—the Luma—I like for its subtle presence! Made from Ipe wood that is considered as one of the densest and toughest wood on block, the construction is simple and stylish. ITTO certified wood (International Tropical Timber Organization), an organization promoting the use and trade of tropical forest resources. The anodized aluminium frame offers the right support and substance on design and durability, the table comes in five sizes to select from.

On barstools, another Luma series must check out the Luma Modern barstool. The simplicity is enticing. I somehow like square designs on barstools for comfort reasons. Again, the ITTO AND IBAMA certified Ipe wood and sturdy anodized aluminium; it is great for outdoor bars. For bare versions, it’s just like it. For cushioned seats, there is acrylic fabric colors to choose from. It’s hard to be simple…hmmm…we like it.

There Are Many Reasons For Choosing A Corner Sofa

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Back in style again in a big way, corner sofas are a significant investment for many homeowners. They not only offer more space and more room for extra features, corner sofa groups also cost more than a standard sofa. While there are there advantages that can’t be had with a sofa and loveseat combo, buyers need to ask whether this style is suitable for them in the long term, or just a trend.

The Space You Need
Check carefully whether your living area has room for a corner sofa. Remember that this style does come in a wide variety of sizes that can be put in even the smallest rooms. The location of your walls and the width of the entrances to your room will make the decision for you. If it’s a tight fit you may be better off to opt for a combination of single sofas.

Keep in mind that corner sofas provide the seating area in a relatively compact space – but your room must not be completely taken over by your sofa.

Features and Options
Did you know that sofa beds and recliners are also available with corner units, and that choosing this style of sofa does not mean you have to miss out on the comfort you want?

Corner sofas can be purchased in left and right-handed configurations, and features such as beds and recliners need to be planned well. Generally you can order the sofa to fit your space, unless you are buying a floor model, which gives you the flexibility to put the sofa bed or recliner in an area where it will work.

You can also order this style of sofa in any covering. Maybe leather sofas are your favourite or you need a floral print to coordinate with your existing furniture. These covers are available with corner sofas and help you co-ordinate their look with the rest of your decor.

Plenty of Seating for All
One of the major advantages of corner sofas is the capacity for more than one person to stretch out. The family may have fought for a comfy spot on traditional sofas, but with corner groups there is more than one spot to fight over, meaning more happy family members.

Perfect for entertaining or just lounging around, buying this style of sofa is a smart move for casual living spaces. If you’re looking for a flexible sofa with plenty of room and great style, this piece of furniture is well worth it.

The breadth of the range of corner sofas which is available means it is a good idea to browse online before making a choice. It is just one of the range of configurations of sofas available, so thorough research should be undertaken before buying.

Tips For Buying A Sofa Without Being Bothered By Pushy Sales People

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Shopping for furniture can be simple and hassle-free, but when salespeople are breathing down your neck and pushing you to make a decision immediately it can soon become frustrating. Buying sofas takes time and there are moments when a salesperson’s advice and guidance is needed – but you will also need find some time for yourself in the furniture store for quiet consideration.

We’ve all been there, with the pressure to make a quick decision looming and an awkward feeling hovering between yourself and the salesperson. How can you shop for sofas without worrying that the sales staff will pester you? Try these methods and have a better furniture shopping experience this time around.

Shop Online First
Going online is a great way to get a lot of your initial questions answered before you set foot in the store. Browse through the selection, write down measurements and even solicit the opinion of your whole family about what they see on the retailer’s website. Look for stores that have prices and warranty information prominently shown, as this will help you shop more quickly and efficiently online.

The very best furniture stores have mobile websites as well, so that you can shop on the go and save time. Email your questions and correspond with the salespeople from a distance beforehand to reduce the chance of unwanted pressure. You can also give the store a call and reference the website if you would like to talk to someone.

If possible, it’s important that you actually see the sofa before you buy, getting an idea of the texture of the furniture, and what the colour actually looks like. Taking a look at each sofa will also help you choose a model that best fits your room.

Let the Salespeople Know What You Want Right Away
Professional salespeople at reputable furniture stores understand their buyers. They have been trained to be helpful to the shoppers, answer questions and give advice where needed. Good salespeople will know how to give the consumers space when needed, but it helps if you are clear and honest up front.

If you are the kind of shopper who needs help at every step, let the sales staff know that and be open about your questions. If, on the other hand, you like to wade through the store selection on your own it will help the salesperson to know that you need space.

Buying sofas without the stress of pushy salespeople is quite possible. With a little bit of research done beforehand and an open, honest attitude to help the sales staff serve you better, getting the sofa you want is easier than you think.

Whether you’re looking for leather sofas or reclining sofas, there is plenty of choice available, and researching online before buying will make the decision-making process so much easier.

Tips To Remember When Shopping For Recliner Sofas

Friday, April 29th, 2011

You’re ready to make an investment in making your home more comfortable. The time has come for you to go shopping for recliner sofas, but the selection and options available may overwhelm and even frustrate you. How do you know which style, brand and features are best? What is a fair price to pay for this style of sofa, and what should you be looking for when shopping? All of those questions are good ones and the answers will help you find the best reclining sofa for your home.

Size matters
Because recliner sofas are often bulkier than other styles of such furniture, it’s important that you plan exactly when it will go in your room. Will there be enough space both in the back and the front of this sofa for it to properly recline? For standard recliners you should plan for about 1.25 metres (around four feet) of space in front of and behind the sofa. Specially designed wall-hugging models should be considered where space is tight.

Reclining Positions
Depending on whether you opt for the manual reclining mechanism or a power-operated model, there may be a certain number of positions available. It’s best to choose a model with the highest amount of positions that your budget can buy. That way you can be sure of the maximum amount of comfort.
Choosing a power recliner will require access to a plug socket, which may make place on in the middle of the room harder. They often come with a remote control and easy operation that allows family members of any age to enjoy a comfortable seat.

Construction and Design
The durability of your new recliner sofa will be largely dependent on the interior construction and the fabric covering. Be sure to ask about the frame and look for furniture that is made using kiln-dried hardwood framing. This material is strong and will last for years, even with heavy use.
Padding on the back and seat of your new sofa should be soft for comfort, but firm enough to support your weight. Check the quality of the stitching as well, to make sure it will hold up through the shifting and movement that comes along with sofa use.

Coverings range from soft and beautifully patterned fabric to smooth and ultra-durable leather. Microfibre is a popular option that is easy to clean and less expensive than leather, although it doesn’t offer the same level of strength or stylish appearance that leather does.

Shopping for recliner sofas will take some time, but with some research and a wide selection to choose from, you should have no trouble finding the sofa of your dreams.

There’s no need to sacrifice style for functionality with reclining sofas, and with a wide choice available, these sofas can match the rest of your furniture.

Two Factors Which Justify The Extra Expense Of A Leather Sofa

Friday, April 29th, 2011

They are a gorgeous addition to any home and a great investment for any family. Leather sofas offer a level of quality that is difficult for other materials to achieve, but many shoppers wonder whether this furniture is really worth the money. And why do leather sofas have a larger price tag?

Natural and Genuine
You may be able to find cheaper sofas that look or even feel like leather at the store. Beware of imitations though, as it is likely that you will regret buying one of these in the end.

Most often a leather-look sofa is made from either a combination of real leather and plastics or reconstituted leather – a product that has the same look at first, but will not offer the qualities of the genuine article. These manufactured materials are easier to find and do not require the time and care that real leather does. But it is that natural quality and care that makes leather so durable and attractive, even after years of use.

Genuine leather is also more comfortable, providing coolness in the heat of summer and warmth throughout the cooler months. Synthetic products cannot offer the same cosiness, even if they do offer a lower price tag.

Stylish and Sleek
Leather is undoubtedly fashionable and has been for decades. It’s probably one of the longest enduring trends in furniture design, which means it has also been in demand for a long time. That demand will keep the cost up, to a certain degree, although leather offers much more than just a fashion statement.

Leather sofas coordinate well with almost any décor. It is easy to find pieces that will complete the room when leather provides the foundation, meaning that this style of furniture is a good investment for the long term and able to last through many redecorating projects.

Because leather is a naturally heavy material, the stitching needs to be heavy duty and durable. This may require thicker thread and a wider seam, which will not only increase the material cost but can add to the manufacturing expenses as well, thereby affecting the price. But again, what you are paying for is actually a better quality assembly and a longer-lasting piece of furniture.
Leather sofas offer so many benefits it is no wonder the initial cost is higher.

This style of furniture will undoubtedly last longer and match well with your changing décor tastes, so a higher price tag may not matter in the grand scheme of things. Weigh up your options and if you find a leather sofa that suits your home and lifestyle consider it a wise investment in your family’s comfort.

A well-made and stylish leather sofa will stand the test of time in almost any home. Get a good idea of the wide choice of sofas available before deciding to buy by searching online today.
