Latex Mattresses Or Memory Foam Mattresses? Which One To Buy?

Written by admin on November 24th, 2009

In the world of memory foam versus latex mattress, you want to be conscious of the differences.  Yet even those memory mattresses that are marketed as eco friendly will have substantial differences between them too, so as you go shopping, you must do plenty of inquiry before you commit to purchasing a selected one.  Purchasing a king memory foam mattress or a latex foam mattress is a major financial investment, tough to undo, so the very last thing you need is to find out is that you’ve purchased the incorrect one after you’ve paid so much money.

Latex mattresses are made either from the sap of rubber trees or else with synthetic, petrochemicals substances, and infrequently these 2 kinds are blended into one mattress.  Since a completely natural latex froth mattress is terribly dear, the blending is usually a cost-saver.  But it is’s also done because natural latex may be less comfortable, whereas petrochemicals provide additional softness and give.  However it isn’t always necessary to use such chemicals because a latex mattress may also be made more comfy with the infusion of natural oils and plant extracts.

A latex mattress is created in one of 2 ways.  With the Standard system, the rubber sap is whipped into a froth, to fill it with the air bubbles that give memory plastic its unique characteristics.  After the whipped substance is sealed in a mold, it’s heated and cured into finished form.  The Talalay method adds thousands of pin-like spikes to the mold, making channels for the air bubbles and making the final latex foam mattresses more buoyant and resilient.  Both these processes can use mixed foam, though, so you will have to analyze further if you are nervous about green mattresses.

Nor is each latex mattress always organic, so that may be the main certification to test out.  If a mattress is simply labeled’natural’ or’green,’ it may still contain some synthetic materials.  Having actual’organic’ certification {, however ,} should mean that all materials used will be completely natural, and chemical and pesticide-free.

You must be certain to do all the research needed before you buy a new mattress.  Even labels that appear to meet your own high ecological standards might be’fudging’ the facts a bit where apparently’green’ products still contain petrochemicals.  And foreign manufacturers may not be as trustworthy as you had hoped.  If you find out all of the info you can about latex foam mattress and memory foam mattresses before you head out on your shopping expedition, then you should be in a position to make a way more educated decision, with all of the facts at your disposal.
